The Truth About Climate Change is an unusual website, one designed to take a totally objective look at the entire subject of global warming and climate change. It does not start from any preconceived idea about climate change, but rather examines the salient facts in detail, considering in turn the views of both global warming proponents and of global warming disbelievers (or ‘deniers’).
The recent Climategate scandal has caused many people to doubt that climate change and global warming are man-made phenomena, caused by greenhouse gas emissions, as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) would have us believe.
It cannot be denied that some degree of global warming has taken place over the last century. The question that we set out to answer is simply that of whether this is due to greenhouse gas emissions, or to some other, probably cyclical, factor. If it is the latter then climate change, or at least global warming as such (the climate will always be in a state of change) may not be something that we should spend time – and huge amounts of money – trying to alleviate.
The existing Government (which means public) subsidy of vastly expensive wind farms, which do not actually function just when they are needed the most, cannot necessarily be seen as the best solution here, no matter what the IPCC, and the scientists who were so shamed by the climategate enquiry, might believe. If global warming is a genuine and man-made phenomenon then we need to make a much more considered effort to deal with its potential effects.
